Sometimes as a blogger you receive an email so exciting that you actually squeal at your inbox with joy and I can 100% confirm that I did just that when I got my invite to the Disney x MAC day a few weeks ago.
I love Disney and I love MAC, what can I say?
I got to hang on the stage of the Prince Edward Theatre with stars from the West End’s, The Lion King and Aladdin musicals watching amazing makeup artists recreate some of the principle characters looks for stage but that could also be worn in every day life, as a makeup obsessive I was totally fascinated!
My favourite tip of the day came from the makeup of ‘Genie’ from the Aladdin Musical being recreated on the beautiful Michelle Hopewell. I love glitter eye makeup and the artist working on Michelle created a fabulous glittery lower lash line which I was fascinated by, I asked how it could be achieved and the tip? Lash glue! Who’d have thought aye?! A line of lash glue along your lower lashes and apply the glitter on top and voila! Look achieved! I will definitely be giving that a go some time.
After a morning coo’ing over fabulous, flamboyant makeup we went on for goodies (I got given some AMAZING MAC products and have been using the Prep + Prime Fix Spray alot since) and refreshments then a lovely lunch at award winning Venetian restaurant Polpo in the heart of Soho. I hadn’t ever eaten at Polpo before but as we have recently had one open up in Exeter I was eager to give it a try. My fave? Fabulous, juicy meatballs (no pun intended!).
We were also completely spoilt by a choice of tickets to watch a matinee show of either Aladdin or The Lion King and as I have seen the latter in the past I thought it would be nice to watch Aladdin (especially as I had been told that there are some totally magical flying carpet moments!).
We laughed, we cried, we laughed and we cried some more, what a show! The glitz, the costumes, the makeup and THE MUSIC!!!! The whole thing just completely re-ignited my love for the stage and I can’t wait to go back and watch something else in the West End!
