First of all…
HAPPY 5TH BIRTHDAY CURVISSA!
Curvissa is celebrating it’s fifth birthday this month and in order to help them celebrate they set myself and Hanna a little challenge – to style an item from their party wear range three ways, with one of the looks being ‘birthday party ready’.
Now this was an interesting challenge for me as I am terrible for buying an outfit for a certain occasion and then never wearing it again which in all honesty is a terribly expensive habit that leaves me with a wardrobe full of lovely clothes that probably only ever see the light of day a handful of times.
For the challenge I opted for a simple, classic black lace dress* from the Anna Scholz for Sheego collection and I was really impressed when it arrived. It fit me like a glove and just looks so elegant. I knew exactly how I wanted to wear it for my birthday party look but for a few days I really struggled to think about how else I’d dress it.
At £85 it’s not the cheapest of dresses (but it is worth every penny as the quality is exactly what you’d expect from anything Anna puts her name to) but that’s why it was even more important for me to pull together ways of really getting the most out of this dress. In the end, I think I managed to make it work…
Look 1 -Work
Simple black blazer thrown over the top of this dress with tights and a basic, black court shoe and this dress is easily wearable for the office.
Look 2 – Rest
I think this was the outfit I struggled to pull together the most but I think it’s actually my favourite. This denim shirt has now been with me for years and it never lets me down! Everyone needs to own an easy to wear denim shirt, trust me, you will never regret it.
Worn over the top of the dress transforms it into a skirt and top kinda combo, teamed with the biker jacket and ankle boots really gives the dress a casual edge with the lace giving it that touch of feminine glam.
Look 3 – PARTY
A great little black dress speaks for itself. Pick the right one and you don’t need all the bells and whistles (but by all means if you want bells and whistles go for those too) however I wanted to keep this simple (I know I’ve used that word a lot) but striking!
You don’t need to spend mega bucks to look a million dollars (even if I do say so myself) as a look like this can be reworked so easily. Most of us probably have a nice pair of black court shoes, a black clutch, a little bit of bling and an amazing red lippy and that’s really all you need – just add the perfect LBD and you are ready to party!
This dress definitely gets the 5 star thumbs up from me!
