I’m not going to go on about how I usually don’t like 50’s/retro/pin-up style dresses because I always bang on about it but yet I keep wearing them so it’s obvious that I’m definitely not averse to the style and if I’m totally honest, it’s a style that usually really suits me, so I’m just gonna go with it.
Anyway I was browsing the Lindy Bop website a few weeks ago for bridesmaid dress ideas (I’m due to be a bridesmaid at my brothers wedding next year and I’ve been helping my sister in law to be) and I spotted the Dolce Striped Swing Dress and as I’m a massive sucker for stripes I knew I had to have it.
JUST LOOK AT IT!
AND IT HAS POCKETS <3
Combined with a killer red lip and some minimal accessories this dress is just perfection! I have never worn a Lindy Bop dress before but I am so impressed. This dress is a size 24 and it fits me perfectly. It has a little bit of stretch to it and there is a concealed side zip too for ease of getting it on and off. My only, silly issue with this dress? It’s an absolute bugger to iron the pleats (but I’m crap at ironing so it’s probably not as much of an ordeal for anyone else!). Also to note the ‘white’ of this dress is more of a beige/cream type colour rather than white but that wasn’t a problem for me as it’s still gorgeous.
Unfortunately this striped version of Dolce at the time of writing this is now only available in sizes 6 and 26 (size 26 girls go grab it now) but as it’s so popular they may restock it, so keep your eyes peeled if you’re wanting one. However Dolce is available in a few various other prints including animal print, which I am seriously considering in order to satisfy my inner Bette Lynch.
I felt so SJP in SATC in this dress for a night on the town with my friends and I got zillions of compliments on it. It may be my first from Lindy Bop but it definitely won’t be my last now I’ve found them!
