My Week In Pictures.....

Evenin' lovelies!

Well, what can I say, first of all a big thanks for the feedback I got from my last post. I was seriously overwhelmed by the response it got. It's something that is always on my mind and I am glad that I can share my thoughts with people who have had the same kinds of experiences, to know that I'm not alone when I find myself at boiling point due to the ignorance of society.

I must admit, it's been a pretty bland week, I think that's probably the general consensus of most of us at the moment with this god awful weather, I'm not even lying, my afro hair just cannot cope with much more moisture in the air, I'm currently living my life as a giant frizz ball and it's no fun! Please stop raining! Purleasssssssssssseeeeeeee?

So I was just gonna give you a little round up of my week in a few pics....

Fat Bitch!

The power of words astounds me. For as long as I can remember I have always been a 'Fat Bitch'. Strangers on the street call me a 'Fat Bitch', people who I know have more than likely called me a 'Fat Bitch' at times, heck, even family members have called me a 'Fat Bitch'. You see, as long as I am fat, my fat will always prefix any insult that is hurled at me. I'll never just be a 'Bitch', a 'Cunt', a 'Fucker', my being fat is extra ammunition to give hurtful words even more stealth.

I don't even have to have done anything particular to an individual to be granted 'Fat Bitch' status, my just being alive is enough to warrant a torrent of unfounded abuse. In no way do I write this because I'm sat here thinking poor little me, but I was surprised recently by an online friend of mines recent Facebook status.

Said friend made reference to the weight of a jockey in the recent Grand National, his status went along the lines of '...Some of these jockey's are fat bastards really.' Now, I know people make throw away comments like this all of the time, it's not even thought of, it's generally accepted that the word fat should always be prefixed by something particularly negative. I text my friend to ask him about it, and innocently he replied 'I guess I didn't think about it's negativity when I said it.' Fair enough I thought, but then I thought again, why, is it accepted that as a fat person you DESERVE to be insulted? I know my friend meant nothing by his words, but it just proved that when people talk about fat, it is more than likely ALWAYS negative and it is always ok to say those things. Here is a list of some of my favourite FAT insults, which I have been called on many ocassions, mainly, for no other reason than just because I am alive and dare to go out in public......

FAT BITCH
FAT SLUT
UGLY FAT COW
FAT BASTARD
FAT SHIT
YOU'D BE SO PRETTY IF YOU WEREN'T FAT

I can pretty much guarantee that if I were to swap the 'F' 'A' 'T' word in that list of insults with the word 'skinny' and post them all over my Facebook I would be annihilated imminently and suffer another round of generally accepted fat insults. But that's ok, right? Because I'm fat, I deserve it? I searched the words 'Fat Bitch' in Google and came across a clip from a stand up show called FAT BITCH! by Erica Watson.  Towards the end of the clip Erica's words are quite poignant on how society has already set it's limitations on fat people and dare we move out of those confines....

I will continue to use the 'Fat' word positively, but in the meantime, I may always be a 'Fat Bitch' but being an 'Ignorant Bully' is never ok.....

Angel Ribbons in Spring......

(Oh look, there's the dreaded eyebrows! *Shock Shock Horror*)

Evenin' m'dears!

Thanks for the awesome response to my previous post, I think after that I am definitely inspired to wear that Beth Ditto dress more often. It was such an awesome range, wasn't it? Even still I scour eBay for pieces from it. Between that and the 'Seven' range which is well old now, those were my Evans highlights, when the brand really keep us in great trend. Alas, no more whinging about what used to be!

I wanted to finally show you my lovely Angel Ribbons coat from Simply Be, (I love these guys, really I do!). This was my second item I chose to review and I am definitely not disappointed. With the crazy sporadic weather we have had recently I couldn't have chosen this at a much more needed time. The coat itself is in a lovely light weight cotton which is warm enough for chilly days and cool enough for spring sunshine, lovely deep pockets, a really relaxed slouchy, easy to wear feel and a lovely cosy hood, I am smitten with it.

I remember when Simply Be first launched a version of this jacket a couple of seasons ago and I never managed to get my hands on one, when it came back around this season I was thrilled to see it again and that they hadn't changed the design too much. I opted for the khaki in a UK size 28. Before the coat arrived I honestly didn't think it would fit me due to my boobies always being a sticking point with coats and jackets, I always struggle to have enough room, but this was perfect, I actually think I could have sized down due to the relaxed fit of the coat.

I like that they have made a classic, quite boyish parka, into a very girly item, with the tiered frills and the option to have the coat in a really on trend coral colour too, you can't go wrong with this. I don't see our erratic British weather changing any time soon so this will do me perfectly right up until Autumn and through to next year! Two thumbs up from me!

Lightweight Parka - £45 Angel Ribbons @ Simply Be
(Please excuse me looking a right mongface in these pics, just strolled in from work!)

If you likey this one ladies I know the larger sizes are pretty much sold out, so I'd go have a nosey to try get your hands on one ASAP. It's definitely something that I will be wearing for a few seasons yet!

Come with me where you'll never, never have to worry about grown up things again....

Evenin' Lovelies!

There's nothing really new here from me. I decided last weekend to make the most of some items I have had sitting about in my wardrobe which have never yet seen the light of day.

One of those items is a Beth Ditto polka dot Peter Pan collar dress. Purchased off eBay a long while ago but I've never worn it before, why? I have no idea really, I suppose the 'Peter Pan' collar is something I have loved since I saw it make its debut a couple of seasons ago, but I dunno if I was ever that amount of 'girly' to have been able to really pull it off. But a girly bank holiday weekend needed girly outfits as far as I was concerned.....

Peter Pan Dress - Beth Ditto for Evans
Leggings - Rogers & Rogers Matalan
Patent Ballet Flats - New Look
Belt - Torrid
Cardigan - Primark
Biker Jacket - Evans
Red Bag - Peacocks

The second item I want to show off are my Peter Pan pearls I picked up from a jewellery seller that comes into our workplace. I have seen this very same collar in River Island retailing for about £25, so when I saw that she wanted a bargain price of £6 for it I made sure it was coming home with moi! The rest of the outfit is pretty simple, nothing spesh thats why I topped it off with another very girly round of Peter Panesque style......

Glad to be finally utilising some of the amazing stuff that's lurking in the depths of my wardrobe, I mean don't get me wrong, I love a new dress, or pair of shoes (which I ain't gonna lie I have had new of both this weekend) but I must start to enjoy the little gems I already have! A challenge to myself me thinks!

Anyway, it was just a quick one this evening!

Frock and Frill me...

Evenin' lovelies and Happy Chocolate Day aka Easter!

I'm so pleased I am finally writing this post because I've had the most gorgeous dress hanging in my wardrobe from Simply Be for a few weeks now and after wearing it briefly last Friday and not managing to get any pictures of it I wore it again last night for some drinks with some of my favourite people.....

I initially fell in love with this dress when I clapped eyes on it at the Simply Be & Simply Yours Spring/Summer 2012 press day last November. The colours, the prints and the cut just made me swoon, so when I was asked if I would like to review a couple of pieces from their range just recently there wasn't really much to think about, this Frock and Frill dress had to belong in my wardrobe!

Frock and Frill Bell Sleeve Floral Dress - £75 Simply Be
Gold Clutch - Jane Norman
Black Tights - We Love Colors
Black Suede Wedges - New Look
Gold Butterfly Necklace - H&M

I ordered the dress in a size 28 and it fits me perfectly, I just had enough room in it for my boobies and the length fell fine on my 5,4 frame, not too long or too short, it's also fully lined and the chiffon overlay feels silky and beautiful to touch. My only criticism of the dress is the waistband, I would have liked the band to have had a bit more elastication in it, don't get me wrong it's not tight at all but I think just for ease of fit a bit more stretch would have been nice. The dress retails at £75 and although I feel like I say this all the time, it is definitely worth the investment, such a lovely piece!

I also wanted to show off my Katy Perry for Eylure lashes. As you all know I am a proper lash whore, so when i clapped eyes on these bad boys in Boots they had to come home with me and they've been my favourite lashes since.

They are the 'Oh My' double lashes and are so super thick and dramatic but are so light and easy to wear too. I love the really full look they give, I know they are probably a bit over the top for most but seriously I just can't give these enough praise, they were made for me!

Anyway, I'm off to munch my way through some more chocolate! Have a lovely evening all!

Doing Chubby Cartwheels

Afternoon Lovelies!

I am so excited to be writing this review and showing off my awesome Chubby Cartwheels leggings. I am even more pleased that I've actually got some decent pics to show them off as I had an unsuspecting victim on hand today whom I made suffer my ridic posing and take my pictures.

About a month ago I received an email which made my day. Shawna whom owns and runs Chubby Cartwheels dropped me a message asking me if I would like to choose something from her store to review, this for me was an honour.

I have known Shawna for a number of years now, whenever we would talk on messengers etc it would always be about clothes and fashion as it's something we both get super excited about. When Shawna told me she was going to start sewing and making clothes I had serious admiration as it is something that I have always wanted to do. Over the years she would show me pictures of her work and outfits she would make for herself and I would be in such awe that she was able to create awesome bespoke pieces for herself. I would regularly give her the 'girl, when are you gonna make some shiz for me?!'.

Well, finally the time came and I couldn't be more thrilled for her that her labour of love Chubby Cartwheels is up and running and becoming a real gem within the plus size world. I couldn't be more thankful that there are girls like Shawna out there whom are willing to follow their dreams, take the plunge and design for us!

I chose to own a pair of 'Classic Leopard Leggings', you know me, if there is animal print involved then I'm all over it. When they arrived they were packaged so beautifully but I was just so excited I tore them open, so no pics, sorry! They are silky soft, and fit perfectly. I ordered a size 24 from her website and I even mentioned to her that I tend to have slimmer ankles to the rest of my leg and she was happy to let me take a measurement so she could tailor the item to fit correctly, so no ankle gapage! YAY!

I dressed them up yesterday for a Nando's and cinema date to finally watch The Hunger Games. When I wear leopard print, I tend to dress it quite hard, you know, lots of blacks and dark colours but I wanted to lighten it this time around to match the nice light spring weather, and anyway, here's what I wore.....

Classic Leopard Leggings - Chubby Cartwheels
White Vest Top - H&M+
Cardigan - Primark
Skull Scarf - Primark
Metallic Open Toe Flats - H&M
'Tinkerbell' Necklace - Superdrug

Ridiculous Posing - Born this way

I also slicked my nails with some Models Own 'Indian Ocean', stunning colour but about 6 coats needed to get a good shimmery look, great eye-catching summery polish though...

Shawna's clothes are fantastic, and scream 'I don't give a fuck if I'm fat, ima wear you anyway!' and that is what I love, not only are the clothes made by a fellow fatty whom understands what us other fat girls want they are unashamedly in your face and full of attitude and I absolutely cannot wait to see what else comes from Chubby Cartwheels in the future. Also check out her blog, When In Doubt Wear Purple.

Go check her out NOW!
